Book of The People: Wood Age

Chapter 1: Wood Age

In the dawning age of the world, when the lands were still writing their first tales into the annals of time, the People emerged from the whispering forests—their spirits as young and wild as the untamed wilderness from which they arose. This was the Wood Age, an era of growth and foundation, where the roots of civilization dug deep into the fertile earth of possibilities.

It was a time of simplicity and survival, where the People learned to listen to the murmurs of the trees, the chants of the brooks, and the wisdom of the winds. The forests provided, and the People, grateful for the bounty, shaped the wood into tools and shelters, learning the art of crafting from the very heart of nature itself.

Homes were built among the ancient oaks and whispering pines, cradled in the arms of mother Earth. The People lived in harmony with the land, taking only what was needed, giving back in their turn. They learned the ways of the hunt, the secrets of the herbs, and the language of the beasts.

Communities grew like groves, each a cluster of life and activity, bound by the same rhythm that pulsed through the veins of the world. The People wore garments of leather and fur, adorned themselves with bones and stones, tokens of respect to the life that sustained them.

In the heart of the largest forest, the Great Tree stood—a colossal monument of nature, its branches a canopy over the world, its roots a network that connected all life. It was here that the People would gather to celebrate the changing of seasons, to share stories and wisdom, to resolve quarrels, and to make decisions that affected all.

The Wood Age was also a time of learning, where the People began to understand the deeper truths of existence. They painted their stories on the walls of caves and carved runes into the bark of trees, creating the first scripts, the precursors to the languages that would one day be spoken across the world.

As the People thrived, they also looked beyond the woods. They explored the rolling hills, the vast meadows, and the distant mountains. They crossed rivers, navigated the intricate networks of caves, and marvelled at the sprawling diversity of the land.

Yet, with growth came challenges. The People faced the fury of nature: the storms, the fires, the droughts, and the beasts. But each trial was met with the resilience of the human spirit. With every hardship endured, the People grew wiser, stronger, more connected to the Earth and to each other.

The Wood Age was a testament to beginnings, to the emergence of culture and community. It was an age that forged the identity of the People, shaping them into the beings they were destined to become. And as the sun set on this verdant epoch, the stories of the Wood Age were etched into the very soul of the world, ready to be passed down through generations, as the People ventured forth into the unfolding eras that awaited them.
